Food Reviews...Day one...Victoria

Breakfast- Salmon House, West Vancouver.
The two of us ladies left for our trip on Father's day. (a little bad planning on our part) We couldn't leave without spoiling my dad a little, so we took him to the Salmon House for brunch. We sat by the window (very hard to get one of the roughly 10 tables by the window) and had the most amazing view of Vancouver. You can see for miles and miles from up there. Absolutely gorgeous! We had a salmon benedict, steak and eggs and I had the crab benedict. The food was great (although the measly 5 little potato slices that accompanied the benedict definitely left something to be desired). I think the winner was definitely the steak & eggs. They had done it up like a benedict. A bed of spinach on the bottom, then the sliced steak, poached eggs and hollandaise. Definitely the best looking steak and eggs that I've seen in a while. Food was great, mimosas were great (are they ever not??), the service was alright, all in all a good experience!

Lunch-
After missing the 1:00 ferry (we arrived 3 minutes before it left...they stop selling tickets 5 minutes before it leaves. Darn) and being told that the 2:00 was suddenly cancelled, we were 3rd in line for the 3:00 ferry, and stuck in the line for two hours with no possibility of going for lunch anywhere out of the terminal. 2 hrs wait = 2 unhappy gals. We wound up having Starbucks and Salad Loop. Sigh

Dinner- Ferris Oyster Bar & Grille, Victoria, BC
I am pretty sure that I could live on freshly shucked oysters. We downed a baker's dozen of them to start. Yum! For our main course we had their amazing (and huge!) cioppino. ($12. Amazing, most places would charge upwards of $25 for one just like this) It was filled with oysters, prawns, halibut, salmon, clams and mussels. The service was painfully slow, the table next to us waited nearly 15 minutes to be greeted and order. The food at Ferris is extremely inexpensive and extremely good. I would recommend this to anyone, but with a small warning to not take the service too heavily. A $12 ciopinno that tastes better than most $25 ones, and the best fresh shucked oysters in town make it a must if you're in Victoria.
